This is the inaugural year of the Icon Awards, a new annual prize for the best in international architecture, design, technology and culture. In the only category decided by public vote, the ‘Icon of the Year’ was won by Thomas Heatherwick for his extraordinary and spectacular Olympic cauldron, a design which also won the Product Design of the Year category. Our role in the manufacture of the iconic ‘Betty’ was detailed in issue 112 of Icon magazine which focused on the prototyping and industrial creativity that goes on behind the scenes in factories and workshops such as ours.

Details of the various different Icon Awards categories and winners can be seen in the January issue of Icon magazine.
