Our Machine Shop lies at the heart of our 12,000 square-metre manufacturing facility. It is the hub of creative manufacture here at Stage One and is filled with precision equipment for cutting, turning, milling, forming and shaping all manner of materials: be it one-offs or multiples in their thousands.
It’s our Machine Shop that has enabled us to make an astonishing array of specialised automation kit entirely in-house, create complex moving parts for an Olympic Cauldon, cut 169,300 individual components for a Hive pavilion, or shape MDF panels for a brand activation. Practically every project we deliver will use this department in some way.
Our Machine Shop team comprises technicians and operators who know the special capabilities of each machine. They are multi-skilled, adaptable and have a significant input into how we design and manufacture components for our projects. The machines are hugely varied in their capabilities too. Our vast Poseidon 5 Axis CNC machining centre can transform a block of high density foam into a giant yet intricate sculpted head, while our CNC Laser Tube Cutter made light work of cutting 8km of steel tube into 27,000 lengths for a Serpentine Pavilion. Our CNC Flat Bed Laser Cutter cuts through 20mm mild steel with precision while our CNC Press Brake bends and folds sheet material to create intricate joints.
From traditional lathes to powerful Multi-Axis Machining Centres, this department is the lynch pin of the company. It probably made the lynch pin too.
