An Atlas of Es Devlin presents a retrospective account of the works of British artist, stage designer, and long-term collaborator of Stage One, Es Devlin.

Her book, and first museum exhibition of the same name at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, depicts her project archive and outlines her process of design.

For the exhibition Stage One’s 3D printing company Fluxaxis was commissioned to produce a medley of 3D printed, white, scale models representing designs made by Es Devlin Studio.

10 models in total, we were delighted that this included projects delivered by Stage One.

These models were produced with minor variations in the process and materials used dependent on the nature of the structure. For example, the 800mm tall replica of Big Ben, a representation of the London 2012 Summer Olympics, was printed in 3 sections using our HP Multi Jet Fusion printer, in Nylon PA12 that enabled us to achieve the intricate and ornate detailing of the clock tower.

In contrast, Please Feed the Lions was a solid structure printed using FDM 3D printing in ASA, an all-purpose and durable material. The lions head weighed approx. 4.5kg and was printed in just over 47 hours.
