A complex integration of staging, technology, scenic treatments and finishes saw us take on this project as a joint venture with Show Canada, working together to deliver a package including a ‘cracked earth’ stage concealing 20 lifts that dramatically transformed the stage during the show.

The combination of scissor and column lifts, all with rock-like scenic treatment, synchronised to form a multi-levelled 14m high mountain, the highest lift incorporating a cage to enable the hero to ‘magically’ appear at the mountain top. The stage also accommodated a 30m by 8m lake, filling to a depth of 100mm in just two minutes; while overhead we provided a vast narrative focal point in the form of a 10m flown pomegranate, complete with a thousand ‘seeds’.

With exposure to extreme heat and camera scrutiny, the ‘eclipse’ cauldron required scrupulously researched and executed finishes. We provided mechanisms and control to enable the 30m arms to rise and the 5m central disc to rotate and elevate, creating the stunning eclipse effect.
