Not only did these 6m high boots have to be as accurate a representation of the animated pair as possible, but they also had to provide access for the film’s stars, via an internal staircase, to a raised ‘photo call’ platform near the top. Being subject to the scrutiny of a press call, attention to detail was very important. We created a textured leather-effect finish and added stitching detail using 10mm rope.
Hand carved and finished, the boots were cut into nine sections for transportation and were assembled on location at the end of the luxury Carlton Hotel’s pier with minimal disruption to the al fresco diners.
