Returning to the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia, Stage One was delighted to be working with Done + Dusted once again, this time for the opening ceremony of Riyadh Season 2024.
We manufactured and installed the three-way catwalk stage, including an eleven-metre-tall interactive arch that bestrode the central walkway and gently glided back and forth during the performance.
The stage was approximately 30 metres wide, and each catwalk 24 metres long. Once the stage frame had been built, it was topped with scaffold deck with an 18mm black, pre-laminated finish, and fitted with a 900mm deep lighting trough at its perimeter.
The arch was constructed using 42 lengths of truss, clad in LED screens by a third-party. Its track was 21 metres in length, made of steel beam with extruded aluminium I-track to make the runners for the carriages. The arch was first built at the side of the stage and then lifted onto the carriages using an 85-tonne crane.
Lastly, we set up the automation, reeving the winch with an 8mm cord of mild steel wire in the form of a roll on roll off system that provided the movement forward and backward. The automation was powered by a singular Newton JAF 30kW Slow winch, with drive and server, and controlled by a Stage One Qmotion operator.
