The Shipyard Ride at Titanic Belfast further developed the engineering technology originally used at Jorvik in 2001 by adding significant gradients to the ride, enabling passenger cars to rise and fall as if flying through the bowels of the mighty ship.
For both projects we developed and installed the bespoke track, hangers and anchor mechanisms, rotating cars, disabled car and control systems. Titantic Belfast also featured a vertical track lift system to provide access for the maintenance area that was below the main station platform level and the addition of winches to facilitate the rise and fall of cars as they traveled through the hull. Both here and at Jorvik, ambience to the rest of the visitor centre is maintained through the use of noise-reducing rack and tyre materials.
