We created some large scenic items and props for this touring production, using a mix of traditional skills, engineering and the latest in digital technology. Our large-format MASSIVit 1800 3D printer was used to create the 4m high rotating bronze trophy, each section printed complete with ‘engraved’ lettering and handle recesses. The trophy was mounted on a slew ring concealed within treads, rotating to reveal a trophy cabinet themed interior.
Multi-use trucks with adjustable raking were made to fit the show floor tracks and used to change scenes between St Bernadette’s School and the Stable. The blue and yellow school comprised two base sections backed with 4m high flats and an arch with CNC’d lettering. The deliberately ‘scenic’ and rustic-looking stable, comprised a steel frame attached to the truck via a spigot and socket system. This was clad with carved polystyrene, then skimmed and coated with idenden. We also made the metre-high title lettering, applying a high quality gold paint finish, infilling each with red glitter fabric.
